Description

The Forest Preserve and Conservation (FPC) Section consists of professionals that either specialize or work in and around forest preserves and/or conservation.  The event will begin with a presentation and will be followed by the FPC Section Annual Business Meeting.  If you are interested in joining the section or simply wish to attend for educational and networking purposes, you are encouraged to register.

How to Participate: This meeting will be on Zoom.  Links will be sent to all registrants October 22.

Presentation Description:
Celebrate innovation in this session highlighting award-winning projects from forest preserve and conservation agencies.  Presenters will share what made their projects successful, challenges overcome and discuss any lessons learned. Whether you're looking for inspiration or practical takeaways, this session will showcase replicable ideas and proven approaches to elevate your agency's work.

Attendees will gain insight into a variety of impactful projects:

Outstanding Ecological Restoration Project: Salt Creek Restoration at Fullersburg Woods
Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, Stephen McCracken, DuPage Rive Salt Creek Workgroup/Conservation Foundation

Outstanding Planning or Capital Project: Dark Sky Trail and Amenities
Champaign County Forest Preserve District, Lorrie Pearson 

Outstanding Planning or Capital Project: The Hollows - Lake Atwood Access Improvements Project
McHenry County Conservation District, Amy Peters 

Outstanding Environmental Education Program: Bass in the Class
Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, Keriann Dubina 

Learning Objectives:
1.  Identify innovative strategies and best practices from award-winning conservation and forest preserve projects,
2.  Explore successful approaches to collaboration and stakeholder engagement used in these projects.
3.  Gain actionable insights to adapt and apply similar project models or tactics in your own agency or community.
